The polish born genius autodidact artist, Stanislaw Szukalski, produced works of art that spanned eight decades. Apparently Szukalski was a precocious and talented sculptor and artist who was a bigdeal in the Chicago Art scene of the early 1900s.

Netflix aired a documentary produced by George Di DiCaprio, father of actor Leonardo DiCaprio, about the genius titled “Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski” in December 2018.

Szukalski held a number of bizzare views and theories, for instance he believed much of human civilisation could be traced to post diluvian Easter Island and that man was in a constant state of conflict with descendants of the Yeti. Even when visible connections could be made between his art and external influences like Aztec or Mayan sculpture he outrightly denied it and maintained that his art was self-born and autochthonous.
