1. Epidemic or Pandemic ? What is the Difference ? An epidemic is a disease or something that has spread to many people or communities. While a pandemic is something that is a global phenomenon. The WHO on March 11, 2020 declared the Covid 19 outbreak a pandemic. An upgrade from its erstwhile epidemic status.

2. Should You Be Worried Now ? Well epidemic or pandemic the disease still remains deadly and no less worrisome. Monsieur Tedros, the WHO Czar has asked that the focus should be on preparedness, prevention and treatment.

What Should Countries Do ? Test and treat patients, isolate patients and contact trace. As well as engaging in mass sensitization of the populace. Citizens should stay safe. Impose a lockdown if necessary. Provide stimulus packages for vulnerable individuals and businesses. Mobilize private and public scientific labs (Big Pharma & Drug Inc.) to initiate research for the production of a vaccine(s) and a possible cure for the virus. Individuals and countries should also stock up for winter (so to speak) because its going to be a long and difficult siege.

4. What Should You Do ? Take responsibility for protecting yourself and others. Wash your hands regularly and wear a mask. Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose and mouth. Cover your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue or bent elbow when coughing or sneezing. Observe a physical distance (3 – 6 feet) from people when in public. Read and listen to information about Covid 19 from reliable sources.

You can get useful and reliable information from the WHO website; CDC website; and John Hopkins website (which provides a realtime feed on the spread of the pandemic). The official website of local and regional health authorities also provide important information about Covid 19. Individuals are however, advised to be wary of volunteering personal and financial information to scammers.
