August Break

Nature catching her breath before the dry leaves of autumn start to fall in preparation for the fanning of the charcoal embers that will tackle and exile the December chill.

Just a little flourish to brighten your day.

As a kid, growing up in Nigeria, Africa, the month of August meant respite from the heavy tropical rains. It also meant the harmattan and dry season was afoot. It was easy to predict the seasons and plan activities around same. Nowadays with global warming and climate change it is much harder to predict the seasons with certainty. Rains come early, late or not at all in some cases. Forcing drought and famine on the bottom one percent and the fringe dwelling thirty percent. Eating grubs and cacti for breakfast, lunch and supper. Flash floods and Wild fires 🔥 have also been added to the mix.

Climate Change is an existential threat of global proportions. The impact is felt ìn Australia or Madagascar. It doesn’t matter if you are involved in the exploitation or burning of fossil fuel. If you live on planet earth you are affected and it should bother you. Bother you enough to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and to write a letter to your congressman or MP to join in taking action.

Acknowledging and acting on the ipcc report 2021 on climate change is an important step.
