Green Thumb Diaries

We adopted a few plants last month.  The idea was to beautify and purify our living space. The Gerbera daisy and snake plant were a perfect choice for indoors. But somehow, the Oriental Lily didn’t do so well.

We tried a little water and generous watering frequently and infrequently. We even tried changing positions intermittently while chasing the sunlight … But nothing worked. Lily’s lush red petals began to wilt. Her verdant leaves turned into a chalky-ashy brown.

One morning Lily’s petals had completely fallen off and the brown leaves 🍂 had began to do the same in curious funereal couplets.

“Alarmed !” was an understatement. Full-on emergency measures had to be adopted and deployed.

Lily was relocated outdoors close to the sun and sprinklers. It’s been a couple of days, and it appears new life has been breathed into her. There are no new flowers yet, but I can see them budding. She seems happy. Sometimes, I imagine her conversing with the Ixoras, as the squirrels and lizards scamper by.

Perhaps not all plants are meant to be indoors? Only time will tell.
