Health Tips:
1. If overweight; lose 5 – 10 percent of your body weight.
2. Exercise at least 30 mins all or most days of the week.- walking, cycling, gardening, aerobics, cardio, yoga, tai chi.
3. Eat smaller portions
4. Reduce/Cut off foods like cookies, desserts, cakes, candy, pastries, bread, pasta, tortillas, rice, crackers, pretzels and chips.
5. AVOID processed, salty and deep fried foods.
6. Drink water in place of sodas and carbonated drinks, fruit juices, lemonade, smoothies, sweetened coffee and tea and alcohol.
7. Eat lean cuts of meat and fish and remove skin from poultry.
8. The more processed a food is, the less fiber, vitamins and minerals it has leaving behind mostly starch.
9. Move towards healthy carbs, lean proteins and unsaturated fats e.g. nuts, avocado or fatty fish but always watch your portions because all high fat foods are dense in calories.
10. Be happy. Do that which you would gladly do without pay and still get a feeling of fulfillment. Peace of mind reinforce good health. Happiness is the ultimate elixir of life.
