The Broadcast and Movie industry lost an illustrious son today, March 3, 2021 – Sadiq Abubakar Daba. Popularly known as Sadiq Daba.
I recall him as Bitrus in the 1970s -1980s TV series Cock crow at dawn. At the time some of us thought he bore an uncanny resemblance to Jimmy Walker who starred as JJ in Good Times. Perhaps because they were both young, skinny and on TV.
I also remember him on the breakfast show Morning Ride on NTA with his co-host Uncle Yinka Craig in the 1990s and early 2000s.
And more recently in his award winning 2014 role as Inspector Waziri in October 1 by ace movie director Kunle Afolayan. You can check it out on Netflix.
He will surely be missed as one of the veterans of the Golden Age of Nigerian Television. ADIEU Uncle Sadiq. Rest in peace.
